The summer teaching staff has over 100 years of teaching and coaching experience working with junior and senior high tennis teams, and college tennis teams at the Division I, II or III levels along with teaching at country clubs and tennis camps within the Twin Cities area and throughout the country.
Scott Swanson, USPTA: Director of Tennis at MTC since 1994, USPTA Northwest Section Coach of the Year in 1994,NWPTA Industry Excellence Award 2003, coached Blaine Boy’s, Columbia Heights Varsity, Coon Rapids Junior High, Southwest HS, St. Paul Tennis Club, Daytona Indoor Tennis and Lake Hubert Tennis Camps.
Glenn Britzius, USPTA: Glen Joined MTC in the fall of 2007 as a teaching professional, Glenn has been on staff at Oakridge CC, Northwest/Lifetime AC, Augsburg College, played on the University of Minnesota Tennis Team. He actively participates in a variety of USTA/USPTA local and National Tournament s.
Matt Makis: Matt Makis, Junior Director: 2011 - 2013 Certified Instructor through the Professional Tennis Registry, 2012-2013 Assistant Women's Tennis Coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead, 2013 USTA Northern Section Tennis on Campus Leader of the Year. Student of NDSU, majoring in Sports & Recreation Management
Jenny Arnfelt: is from Arden Hills where she graduated from Moundsview High School. Jenny played high school tennis and Division 3 tennis at Gustavus Adolphus during her four year collegiate career. She is the Girls Varsity Tennis Coach at Shakopee High School and co-coaches the Boy’s Varsity team as well. Jenny’s work with students earned her the Section 2AA Coach of the Year Award in 2014. She believes that players need to show positive attitudes, need to give 100% effort during practice and match play and show good sportsmanship. “Honor the game, honor their opponents, and honor themselves.”
Boris Gonikman: has developed his own game of tennis through the Junior Program at MTC. He began teaching with us in 2008. Boris is the Head Coach of the Girl’s Armstrong High School Team and has continues to participate in USTA team tennis throughout the year. He has served on the USTA Board of the Northern Section focusing on Adult programming for our section.
Cathy Hayden: joined our staff in 2013. She’s originally from Grand Rapids Michigan and played Division 1 tennis at the University of Florida. During her collegiate career, Cathy was ranked #1 in doubles in the Nation and was a 4-time All American Player . In addition to working with the juniors, Cathy coaches the ladies daytime league players at MTC. Her racquet of choice - the newly released Wilson Burn 100.
